Yalanji Dambal is a contemporary stylist strap shoe adorned with a beautifully women kakan (black palm fibre m) piece.
The design is hand-made and purposely created to embrace and highlight a 60+ thousand year old weave. Kakan is traditionally used to create balji (dilly bags) and can be found in the Kuku Yalanji region, located between Kubirri (Mossman ) and Kuku Nyunkul (Shipton Flats).
These statement pieces incorporate the modern day footwear with an age-old weaving technique, bringing the 21st century in line with the rise of cultural acceptance world-wide
